Volunteer Sign-Up Process

Whether you’re new to volunteering or joining us for the 50th time, signing up for a WRV project is simple and welcoming. Just follow the steps below and you’ll be ready to get outside, learn new skills, and make a difference.

  1. Browse Projects — Visit our VolunteerHub calendar to explore upcoming events. Each listing shows the project type, location, date, difficulty rating, and open slots.
  2. Create a Free Account — Click “Create Account” (or “Log In” if you already have one) to set up your VolunteerHub profile and manage your participation.
  3. Reserve Your Spot — Once logged in, select a project and click “Sign Up.” You’ll receive confirmation, meeting details, tools needed, and what to bring.
  4. Check Project Details — Review the information carefully (meeting time, gear required, duration, etc.) and adjust your schedule as needed.
  5. Show Up & Volunteer — On the day of the project, arrive at the designated meeting point with water, safe clothing, and a good attitude. WRV will supply tools, training, safety gear, and experienced crew leadership.
  6. Enjoy the Experience — Work with your crew, contribute to restoration, meet fellow volunteers, and share in the satisfaction of helping our lands heal.

Want to Do More? Consider Leadership Roles

If you’d like to take on more responsibility, WRV offers several leadership-oriented volunteer roles:

  • Project Leader
  • Technical Advisor
  • Crew Leader
  • Tool Manager
  • Cook Team

These roles often require additional training — once you create a profile, check the “Leader Openings & Sign-Up” section or contact WRV to learn about upcoming training opportunities.

Before You Reserve Your Spot

Each WRV project is designed to be inclusive and beginner-friendly, but it helps to plan ahead. Some projects involve rugged terrain, early meet times, or weather-dependent conditions. Always review the project details carefully and make sure you have:

  • Water, lunch/snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing
  • Sturdy footwear
  • Sunscreen, hat, or sun protection if needed
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work

If you are unsure about the physical demands or tools required, contact WRV — we’re happy to help you choose a project that fits your comfort level.
