Volunteer With WRV

Join WRV’s volunteer community — no experience necessary. Help restore Colorado’s lands, learn new skills, and spend meaningful time outdoors with people who care.

WRV runs over 150 volunteer projects each year — from single-day events to weekend wilderness work across Colorado’s forests, foothills, and alpine landscapes. Projects span trail construction and maintenance, river and wetland restoration, native planting, erosion control, and post-wildfire recovery in some of the state’s most impacted areas. Volunteers of all backgrounds gain hands-on skills, outdoor experience, and a deeper connection to the places they love, all while contributing meaningful conservation outcomes that protect habitat, build resilience, and support the long-term health of Colorado’s public lands.

How to Get Involved

Start by exploring upcoming opportunities in our VolunteerHub calendar, where you’ll find a wide range of projects happening across Colorado. Creating a free VolunteerHub profile lets you sign up, receive reminders, and track your volunteer journey over time. Once you’re set up, simply choose the projects that fit your interests and your schedule — whether that’s a single-day event close to home, a weekend adventure in the mountains, or a multi-day wilderness trip. Each project is a chance to learn new skills, meet inspiring people, and make a real impact on the landscapes we all rely on.

Volunteer Roles & Leadership

WRV offers a variety of volunteer roles for those who want to deepen their involvement and take on new challenges. You can help guide crews as a Project Leader, share technical expertise as a Technical Advisor, support project logistics on the Cook Team, keep tools organized and ready as a Tool Manager, or lead smaller groups in the field as a Crew Leader. Each role contributes to the success of our projects and strengthens our volunteer community. Many positions include additional training, mentorship, and opportunities to grow your leadership skills — reach out to learn more about what role might be right for you.
